The English Hub

Host and volunteer roles

Teachers, event hosts, helpers, coordinators, and guestroom moderators — what each role does.

Many learning features are run by volunteers, not paid employees. Recognising roles helps you know who to ask — and how to apply yourself.

Coordinator

Connects members, hosts, teachers, and staff to grow the community. A bridge role for organisation and collaboration.

Teacher

Leads regular English lessons and structured classes.

Event host

Plans and runs community events — games, watch parties, seasonal activities, and similar.

Debate club host

Facilitates structured debates on varied topics.

Book club host

Organises reading sessions and book discussions.

Conversation club host

Runs open conversation sessions on rotating themes.

English helper

Answers language questions and supports learners in channels.

Trusted (guestroom moderators)

Moderate specific guestroom communities under talk-tank-rules — for example themed support or discussion guestrooms. They are not server-wide moderators; each room has its own team.
