Hey everyone,
The English Hub has grown into one of the biggest and most active English learning communities on Discord. With over 350,000 members, our server is more vibrant than ever. New faces join every day, conversations are constantly flowing, and people from all over the world come together to practice, learn, and connect. That kind of growth is something we’re really proud of.
But as the server grows, so does the number of challenges we face behind the scenes. One of the biggest is moderation.
We receive hundreds of reports every single day. And while we do our best to respond to each case as fairly and quickly as possible, the reality is simple. We can’t personally handle every small issue. Our focus has to stay on the bigger picture so that we can protect the overall safety and health of the community.
What You Can Do Yourself
Here’s the good news. You don’t always need to wait for us. Discord gives you several tools that let you take control of your own experience. These are easy to use and can often solve the problem right away.
Muting
If someone in a voice channel is bothering you, whether they’re being loud, disruptive, or just not your cup of tea, you can mute them instantly. They won’t know, and you don’t have to hear them again.
Blocking
If someone is sending you unwanted messages or following you around the server, you can block them. This will prevent them from messaging you, pinging you, or reacting to your messages. It’s quick, private, and effective.
Report to Discord
If you see someone breaking Discord’s Terms of Service, like using hate speech, sending threats, or sharing harmful links, you can report them directly to Discord’s Trust & Safety team. They investigate serious platform-wide violations and can take action even outside of this server.
These tools are built to keep you safe and comfortable. If something feels off, use them.
When to Get the Mod Team Involved
Some situations go beyond what these tools can handle. If someone is causing serious problems, that’s when we step in.
Please reach out to the Mod Team if you experience any of the following:
- Someone repeatedly disturbs the peace on the server
- A user is harassing multiple people across different channels
- Someone is spreading lies or false information about you
- A person keeps following you from one channel to another and refuses to stop
- Someone is clearly trying to start drama or provoke others on purpose
If that happens, don’t hesitate to let us know. Try to include as much context as possible, like screenshots, message links, and usernames. The more we understand the situation, the faster and more accurately we can respond.
Let’s Keep Building This Together
In a community this large, it takes all of us to keep things running smoothly. Our moderation team is here to support you, but we also rely on you to use the tools that are available and reach out when it really matters. That way we can stay focused on the things that affect the entire community.
Thanks for your continued support, your trust, and your help in making The English Hub a safe, respectful, and inspiring place for everyone.
With appreciation
The English Hub Mod Team 💙
